MIRADOR DA COVA

This observation deck on the Ribeira Sacra (Lugo) rises above one of the most impressive riverbank areas of the Miño. Looking over it is to enjoy O Cabo do Mundo, possibly the river's most spectacular meander.

The project commissioned to Arrokabe Architects sought to enhance the experience of enjoying the landscape by integrating the observer into nature. The starting point was, therefore, to fuse with the surrounding area and protect the environment.

The architectural studio selected ACCOYA® due to the high durability of acetylated wood and its capacity to transmit the passage of time aesthetically, with pride, elegance and naturalness. Avoiding a finish with biocides was essential to be consistent with the ecological aim of preserving nearby crops to the extent possible, so the ACCOYA® wood in this project is seen as it is, simply planed, with no other finish.

The Mirador da Cova is part of the Adegas Moure winery, where the Abadía da Cova wines are made.
