A SOLID TRADITION SINCE ANCIENT TIMES

Known for its clear tones and its excellent behaviour in all types of finishes, Beech is a sturdy, heavy hardwood species. Its hardness is such that in the past it was used in mining to make rails before cast iron was introduced. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it was also highly valued in the field of cabinetmaking to produce furniture, floors, doors or even bowls.

It is a large tree that can reach up to 40 meters and live up to 300 years. In addition, it is a highly prized species for forestry, as it can grow in very diverse environments. For about 50 years it has been one of the most used species for reforestation, especially in northern Europe.

Its scientific name is Fagus sylvatica, the wood of this deciduous tree is semi-hard, and is a pale cream colour, although it can vary from whitish to brown. Over time, the natural beech wood acquires a certain reddish hue, while still retaining its whitish essence.

QUALITIES THAT MAKE IT UNIQUE

Of great hardness and elegance, beech wood has a uniform texture, and the fineness of its grain allows a very delicate polish. In addition, the elegance of its rings forming irregular patterns makes it a wood of great beauty and distinction.

These outstanding qualities are the why GRUPO GÁMIZ, as specialists in premium woods, use beech for the elaboration of a wide range of high quality products such as laminated profiles and edge-glued wood panels.

Some oaks can be up to 2000 years old. Their strength is visible in their qualities for structural use: adaptable to changes in temperature and humidity, and hugely resistant. The sophistication of its finish is appreciable in GRUPO GÁMIZ‘s range of high quality wood products (oak beams, laminated profiles, etc.)

The proven quality of the ash lies in the hardness and elasticity of its solid wood. An excellent raw material for manufacturing tool handles, curved but sturdy sports objects and, of course, architectural structures. The hard and resistant ash wood features in GRUPO GÁMIZ wooden beam catalogue.
