Church of Santa Genoveva

The new Church of Santa Genoveva, in Majadahonda (Madrid), entrusts its outer envelope to Accoya acetylated wood.

The project, designed by Trasbordo Studio, proposes a contemporary volume in which the timber is the protagonist on both the façade and the bell tower.

To clad the whole, 18 m³ of Accoya, grade A1, have been used, in boards with a raw section of 200x50 mm (190x40 mm finished).

The natural acetylation enables the wood to perform optimally outdoors, even at the most exposed heights of the bell tower, where sun, rain and wind are at their maximum.

The Accoya manufacturer grants fifty years of written warranty for above-ground applications. That is why those behind this construction chose Accoya: a coherent choice for a religious building designed to accompany several generations.

Construction was carried out by Antana, while the installation of the wood was handled by Hermanos Alpa 69.
